How Your Belief in Karma Is the Secret Recipe to Having Anything You Want

Apr 07, 2025

Have you ever wished karma would “get” someone who wronged you? Or feared something bad happened to you because of a past mistake?

What if I told you karma only exists in your reality because you believe in it?

That’s right—karma is a self-imposed paradigm. It’s not some universal law governing your fate. If you believe in karma, you choose to make it real. And here’s the best part: if you’ve created it, validated it, and seen it play out—then you have the power to create anything.

Who Invented Karma… and Why?

Sometimes I wonder: who came up with the concept of karma in the first place? And why would anyone want to inflict it on themselves?

The only reason I can come up with is control. To keep you stuck. To have you expect the worst for yourself, while others (who don’t buy into the same belief system) experience something entirely different.

I don’t know the answer to this question, and the reason that I even wonder about this in the first place is probably because of another paradigm I made up about the world and nefarious agendas at play that are not obvious to the masses. Even so, I mean, hey, who made up this crap? Why did we all buy into it? A punishing invisible force that balances the scales? I’m sure I watched a movie on Elvira or Tales from the Crypt in the 80s like this with Vincent Price as the main character.

The Hidden Trap of Karma

There are many cultural takes on karma, but the version I want to draw your attention to is the one where people unknowingly create a self-punishing force in their life:

  • When something bad happens, they assume it’s “bad karma.”
  • When someone wrongs them, they wait for karma to “get them back.”

It’s a simple framework personified as Karma, but here’s the truth—it holds no power unless you give it power.

Your belief in karma is what makes it real. You assign meaning to events, affirm that meaning repeatedly, and reinforce the belief that karma is a force acting upon your life. Eventually, it becomes a default paradigm. Like a shadow looming over your every move.

But the world isn’t punishing or rewarding you. You’re shaping your reality based on what you assume to be true and what you think you know.

The Hidden Power in the Karma Concept

Now here’s the twist…

If you’ve believed in karma and seen it play out in real-time, then congratulations—you’re a magnificent creator of your reality.

Imagine someone pitching you this idea: “Let’s create a paradigm where everyone who wrongs you gets what's coming to them, and you don’t even have to lift a finger.”

Sounds wild, right?

And yet, how many times have you seen someone behave badly and then immediately face a consequence?

Let me give you a real example. A few weeks ago, during a cyclone in Queensland, businesses were closed due to the storm. One guy thought it’d be a great time to rob a café. While inside, he helped himself to some gelato—because, you know, priorities. But in his sweet-toothed frenzy, he left behind his mobile phone. He returned to retrieve it… and got arrested on the spot.

Now be honest—how many of you would chalk that up to karma?

Yes, there’s a heavy dose of stupidity involved, but how many of you still thought, “He had that coming” or “Karma got him”?

Here’s the thing: if you interpret life that way, attributing every outcome to karma, you’re reinforcing a belief system that punishes you too.

You forget to indicate and accidentally cut someone off in traffic—only to get cut off yourself moments later. You call it karma. Not because it is karma, but because that’s the paradigm you’ve been trained to see.

You’ve affirmed its existence again and again. You’ve collected evidence. You’ve told stories about it. You’ve made it real. And that’s exactly how a paradigm is born. The beauty of having brought into this story is that you already know how you made this real for yourself, so you can replicate the process.

Your Biology Makes Everything You Conceive of Tangible

Here’s where it gets even more fascinating: your Reticular Activating System (RAS)—the part of your brain that filters information (and other things)—will keep finding proof of that belief for you.

Every time you think about karma, RAS highlights experiences that validate it. This feedback loop keeps the belief alive, often running on autopilot.

Which means…

You can create an equally powerful (and outrageous) paradigm that benefits you just as easily as you created and nurtured the karma one.

Let me give you an example from my own life. During the 2020 panic-buying frenzy, I created a belief: “I can buy whatever I want, even when the shelves are empty.”

Fast forward to now—egg shortages in Melbourne. I walk into the store, shelves completely bare. But I think to myself, “That’s not right. I can buy whatever I want.”

And then like magic, as I’m standing in line, I see freshly stocked eggs in the distance. I grab them. Done. Shelves were empty… and I still got what I wanted. Paradigm confirmed.

It’s absurd on the surface, granted. But it works. Over and over again. You don’t need an activation, to awaken your third eye, learn another manifestation technique, you just need to be you and show up as you are. That is more than enough to have everything you want.

Flip the Script—Create Beneficial Paradigms

You can do this too. You’ve been doing it your whole life, just usually for things you don’t want:

  • Work: a paradigm you created to earn money so you can have what you want in life.
  • Health: a paradigm based on genetic stories from your parents and doctor’s opinions.
  • Aging: a paradigm shaped by collective belief and validated by the meaning you give to what you observe. (It doesn’t exist until you observe it and give it meaning and that is a quantum field theory we can chat about another time.)

Everything in your life is a story you told yourself and kept alive with supporting evidence

So why not create wildly empowering, supportive paradigms instead?

Start with something fun. Make up a belief. Back it up with “evidence.” Watch it come to life.

Or go big. Make it bold and so farfetched that there would be no mistaking that you created it. Deliberately create the kind of reality you actually want.

The Real Superpower

The truth is, you already have the superpowers to get anything you want.

The only catch? You’ve been telling stories—and gathering evidence—for beliefs, opinions and paradigms that conflict with what you actually want.

So let’s change that.
